The Junior Room students have been exploring the stories ‘Handa’s Surprise’ and ‘Handa’s Hen’. These beautiful stories are picture books and the students have been using them to develop their reading comprehension using the strategy of prediction.

While the story of ‘Handa’s Hen’ brings the main character on a journey in search of her pet hen, we don’t think the students quite predicted that they would find Mondo, the hen, and her chicks, in the school yard!

Mondo and her chicks are now safely home in Co. Longford with Mrs. Howard (Ms. Howard’s mum).
