Engineering Week 2019
We had a great week of learning about engineering during Engineers Week, 4-8 March.
The Junior Room began the week by building their own bridges based on the basic principles of bridge structures. Their creations were outstanding and potential for a future in engineering is highly possible for some of our young pupils.
The week ended with a visit to Drumshanbo Lock where the children met with the lock keeper and the engineer who is part of the Waterways Ireland team building the Blueway. They asked plenty of intelligent questions, particularly about bridge building.
Many thanks to engineer, Brian Treacy, from Waterways Ireland for taking the time to show the children the role of an engineer and answer questions. The children also received beautiful gifts from Waterways Ireland in the form of hats, pens and markers. Thank you Waterways Ireland.
